July 22 Sick Gazelle (with steve) Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle - FREE
Sick Gazelle record release party - FREE event in Chicago at the Empty Bottle
SICK GAZELLE originally operated as a duo with Block on guitar and Lamont on saxophone and vocals. The pair functioned on a purely improvised basis. Shelley accidentally found himself playing drums with SICK GAZELLE when he was in town laying some parts down at the infamous Semaphore Recording Studios, where Block was an engineer and manager. An hour-long improv session ensued, followed by lunch and coffee, and then another hour-long session, this one with a caveat of doing something softer. The result was Odum, the band’s debut LP. Boasting four tracks of improvised, haunting, experimental jazz, Odum was released in May via War Crime Recordings. |

Sonic Youth: NYC and Beyond
Curated by members of Sonic Youth & archivist Aaron Mullan - US - 90 min
As a fixture of the New York music scene for 30 years, Sonic Youth performed in New York City innumerable times, and served as ersatz cultural ambassadors for the city when traveling. As part of the 2019 Rooftop Films programming, Sonic Youth will present a New York-specific collection of film and videos from their private archives. Much of the material to be presented is completely unseen, threaded together with a few items which are out there in the public knowledge but here presented from the best source available to the band. A panel discussion featuring Lee Ranaldo, Steve Shelley, archivist Aaron Mullan, and writer Byron Coley will follow. |

Mick Harvey spent over four decades on the side of Nick Cave. Only at the birthday party, later as co-founder of bad seeds, he was undoubtedly the most important impulse until his final exit 2009 caves. However, Harvey was also solo active from 1995 and proved with his actions that he was much more than just nick caves's shadow. In addition, Mick Harvey was not only co-producer of pj Harvey but also part of her tour band.
He comes to nightlife with j.p.shilo, Steve Shelley & Glenn Lewis. Detailed information about the concert will follow soon. |
