December 1 Lee premieres new noise composition-Miami Beach
Dec 1--Lee plays Miami at the new Frank Gehry-designed New World Symphony Hall. This show is part of Performa 11-New Visual Art Performance Biennial. Lee has written a piece for an evening of works written for the 16 Intonorumori---noise instruments designed by Luigi Russolo during the Italian Futurist movement in the early part of the 20th century. These instruments were recreated under the eye of composer/conductor Luciano Chessa, who will be conducting the ensemble. Lee's piece is "It All Begins Now (Who's Streets? our Streets!)" for 16 noise intones and electric guitar.
Further: It turns out that this is a private invite-only event presented by Performa for Art Basel's 10th anniv here in Miami.... In addition to the futurist instruments, Robert Longo+Barbara Sukowa's group ex-Patsys also playing. |

Both Lee and Thurston will participate in The Poetry Project's 38th Annual New Year's Day Marathon, which takes place from 3pm-1am. All proceeds from the day are used to fund the 80+ readings presented each season. Expect nearly 145 readers and performers, a freshly supplied book table, and plenty of delicious food & beverages.
